Project Summary:
Our goal was straightforward - to offer an app where pet owners could easily access reliable information and connect with others who shared their love for animals. Our objective was clear - to create a platform that offers reliable and safe information for pet owners, ensuring their animals' well-being is prioritized at every step.
The Problem:
There is an overwhelming amount of information available online about pet care. It's easy for pet owners to get lost in the sea of conflicting advice, leaving them feeling uncertain and anxious.
Process:
To meet the ambitious seven-day timeline of the Innovation Sprint, we utilized the Agile Scrum methodology. This approach facilitated rapid, iterative development and ensured frequent collaboration with software developers, keeping us aligned with project goals.
Key UX Decisions:
Based on the research and insights
A prototype was built to highlight key interactions and address the most critical user needs:
- To provide safe and sound resources
- To ensure clear navigation throughout the site
- To provide an intuitive user experience
Given the time constraint, we kept the project within a small scope to provide the time to validate our design decisions.
Final Design:
The final design included:
- The core platform
- A breed-specific search option
- Access to verified, trustworthy resources
We created a prototype app that connected users with safe, trustworthy resources. The navigation was kept simple but designed to feel natural and easy to use.
Results & Impact:
While we did not have the opportunity to conduct usability testing within the Innovation Sprint timeframe, our prototype provided a clear vision of how pet owners could access safe, reliable at-home pet care resources. The design successfully showcased essential features - such as breed-specific search and access to verified resourcea - laying the groundwork for further validation and development.
Reflection:
During the seven day Innovation Sprint, several team members dropped out early due to personal circumstances, so I adapted by partnering closely with the developers. Collaborating through design studio sessions and 'How Might We?' exercises kept the project moving forward and strengthened our working relationship and built trust.
